The West Coast Youth Orchestra (WCYO) is a culturally diverse Non-Profit Organization that provides Music Outreach & Development Programs to the youth on the South African West Coast. They believe that music education should be a right, not a privilege.
WCYO was established in 1996, with a handful of children practicing as one mixed ensemble. Under the careful care, guidance and expertise of founding member Ms. Carina Brown, the numbers grew rapidly & the various ensemble groups started to participate in local events and Eisteddfods with tremendous success. Now WCYO work with local institutions in five successful interlocking Music Education Outreach & Development Programs, with projects running in Hopefield, Langebaan, Saldanha and Vredenburg.
They run several fundraising campaigns, namely Adopt-a-Musician, Friend-of-the-WCYO, Bona Fide Donation and Contributions in Kind. You can also support WCYO by adding them as your beneficiary on your Myschool Card or sms 49333 to send a R20 single donation for instrument repairs.
