A Wonderful Winter Symphony Season Lineup

It may be cold outside, but beautiful melodies are sure to warm your heart with this wonderful Winter Symphony Season lineup! The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra is delighted to announce its largest season since the onset of Covid-19 – a Winter Symphony season at the Cape Town City Hall with five concerts, one every Thursday night in June.

LEO’S RACHMANINOV – 2 JUNE

Lineup includes: 

Schubert – Rosamunde Entr’act No. 3
Rachmaninov – Piano Concerto No. 4 in G minor, Op. 40
Dvorak – Symphony No. 6 in D, Op. 60

Winter Symphony

MAGNIFICENT MOZART – 9 JUNE

Bernhard Gueller – Conductor
Suzanne Martens on violin and Petrus Coetzee on viola

Lineup includes

Mozart – Don Giovanni Overture
Mozart – Sinfonia Concertante
Tchaikovsky – Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64

Winter Symphony

CELEBRATING YOUTH – 16 JUNE

Bernhard Gueller – Conductor
Ben Schoeman – Piano and featuring the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra

Lineup includes:

Elgar – Pomp and Circumstance No 1.
De Falla – Scenes and Dances from Part 1 of Three Cornered Hat
Saint-Saëns – Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Op. 22
Borodin – Symphony No.2

PROKOFIEV AND SIBELIUS – 23 JUNE

Brahms- Academic Festival Overture
Prokofiev – Piano Concerto No. 3 in C, Op. 26
Sibelius – Symphony No. 5 in E flat major

ORGAN VIBES – 30 JUNE

James Jones – Organ

Lineup includes:

Poulenc – Concerto for Organ, Timpani and Strings in G minor, FP 93
Mussorgsky/Ravel – Pictures at an Exhibition
